No one Is Free Until We are All Free
I started this piece while anxiously waiting to hear the outcome of the Chauvin trial following the murder of George Floyd.
It is made from two Black and White cups, each piece hand-cut to shape to create this abstract depiction of an anatomical heart.
Highlighted with red —the color of blood, anger, and love— I explore the physical hearts that are bleeding as black lives are claimed by police violence, the aching and anger in all our hearts as we witness injustice, and the love and compassion that is needed to begin the long journey toward healing and justice.
Size: 10” x 12.5”, custom framed in black frame.
