Meditative Mandala Mosaics‍ ‍March 29, 2026, 2:00-4:30pm

Making mosaics is a very meditative process. In this workshop, we will create a mosaic mandala using natural materials and glass. You’ll make a circular abstract design and explore how you can impart personal meaning into the mosaic and the creative process. Watch a demo to learn how to mix thin set and adhere sand dollars, slate, glass, and other mosaic pieces in a bed of mortar. Then create your own small mosaic!  

All materials are provided, but students are encouraged to bring any special or meaningful objects they would like to include in their mosaic, such as shells, rocks, pebbles, beads, gem stones, or found objects. Finding materials is nature is half the fun, and even one small personal treasure can make your mosaic feel special.

Slate, Mica, and Stained Glass Flower Mosaic Workshop

Mixed Media Mosaic Workshop: Building Lines With Natural and Man-Made Materials

July 15, 2026, 5:30-8:30 pm

Learn to create a beautiful textured mosaic using various natural materials including stone, slate, and pebbles, along with man-made materials including glass and aluminum shavings. We will explore how to lay the materials in different ways to create lines and different ways of creating contrast with your lines to form a cohesive design. Watch a demo to learn how to mix thin set, cut glass, adhere mosaic pieces in a bed of mortar, and build your design. Then create your own small mosaic!

All materials are provided, but students are encouraged to bring any special objects they would like to include in their mosaic such as rocks, pebbles, found objects, or beads. Finding materials is nature is half the fun!
