Every Which Way (Collection of 8 mosaics)
This collection was inspired by the beautiful handmade ceramic tiles that I brought back from Penland School of Crafts when I studied there in 2017. When I broke up the tiles in 2022 to create this collection, they took on a life of their own. I began to explore how they fit together, using stacks of slate and lines of smalti to form connections. Then the individual mosaics began to talk to each other, and I created several triptychs.
This series is all about accepting and embracing life however it shows up. The nature of life (like nature) is that it goes Every Which Way But Straight. May we embrace all the winding paths fully and with an open heart!
This collection is designed with handmade ceramic, smalti, stained glass, and slate rods that I cut with a wet saw.
These framed works are available individually in the shop or together as a collection of 8 mosaics set in four custom frames. Frames are handmade in white oak.
